Kandiyohi is a Souix word meaning "where the buffalo fish come"
From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a dog," or, "that's a lot of money for just a dog." They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a dog." Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog."
Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a dog," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.
If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you will probably understand phases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise." "Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person.
Because of "just a dog" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. "Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a dog" but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a man." So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog." just smile, because they "just don't understand."

Having returned to Kandiyohi in early 2005, Buddy made short work of completing his Canadian Championship, starting and completing his title in one weekend! In the U.S., Buddy is AKC pointed and has a Sweeps win and Reserve to 5 point major. He is short-backed and has beautiful CORRECT movement, with a face that will melt any heart. And to top it all off, he has a joyful personality to live with!

Gem was born and bred at Rochil Boxers in Texas, and made the long trip to Minnesota after ABC 2001. In her first shows in MN, Gem won Best Puppy and Best in Sweepstakes at the Minnesota Boxer Club Specialty! Gem made very short work of her Canadian title, being entered in just 2 show weekends, taking the points each time to become a Canadian Champion. Gem completed her American title with a WB/BOW win at Fort Worth KC for a FOUR point major! She is the first at Kandiyohi to achieve dual championship status, and we are confident she won't be the last! Gem is showing that she can produce as well! From her first litter, sired by Am. Ch. Though she had a later start to her career than her siblings, Channing has proven that she has what it takes. Like her mother before her, Channing just gets better and better with age, retaining her beauty and smooth movement long after puppyhood. For her last litter, Gem really out did herself producing five really amazing daughters! Vixen is our wild child! Her name, shunghila, means "fox" in Sioux. In her first show weekend, Vixen placed third behind her sisters Naughtee & Cherry. Her second weekend out and Vixen is Reserve Winners Bitch to a MAJOR at Nolan River KC under judge Peggy L Conger...judge's comment "...she's a breeder's dream" and we quite agree! Vixen has moved to Canada and will start work on her Canadian championship before heading back down to the States to complete her AKC championship! Vixen is now a Canadian Champion - the first from Gem's second litter to finish! She won WB at Evelyn Kenny in July for 3pts, BOW in Cranbrook for 3 pts, and 2 BOW in Saskatoon, both for 3 pts. Naughtee (Rochils Guilty as Charged Kandiyohi), was Winners Bitch for 2 points under Judge Donald M. Booxbaum at the Tyler Kennel Club show in Canton,TX. She now has 4 points. Getting ready for ABC Regionals in Oklahoma, Naughtee (Rochils Guilty as Charged Kandiyohi) is Winners Bitch under Judge Roger Hartinger at the Saline County Kennel Club show. Naughtee now has 5 points towards her championship! Naughtee (Rochils Guilty as Charged Kandiyohi) is Winners Bitch/Best of Winners/Best of Breed under Judge Lester Mapes at the Denton County Kennel Club show, shown by breeder/owner Sandi Combest.
